New Zealand Immigration – The Visa Application Process has Completely Turned Electronic

New Zealand has introduced a completely online system that makes it easier for the candidates to apply for the visa online. The candidates now don’t have to send in their passport or other documents to visa office.

This has facilitated the visa application process and the New Zealand immigration service has become better.

A program named Vison 2015 was launched back in March 2012. Its success encouraged the implementation of the complete online system.

The country now is equipped with an identity management system. Facial images and fingerprint are now saved online and are matched automatically against the personal information provided by the candidates.

Verification process on the part of New Zealand immigration department has also become easier.

Michael Woodhouse, New Zealand immigration minister said that they have received over 80,000 online applications. And more people are applying through the online visa application system. Now they don’t have to send with their documents to visa office.

Woodhouse further added that in order to facilitate the end users, the immigration department at New Zealand has set up more than 40 Visa Application Centres worldwide. These centres will be administered with trusted partnerships with the tourism providers in the respective areas. This is done to improve the services for the customers.

Before Vision 2015 programme, the visa application process and its relative work was paper based. People have to physically move from one office to another in order to get the visa application processed. The whole system was dependent on people. But now, the system is completely online. Applicants have to enter their information from any place with the internet access.

The new system is strong enough to meet the future demands. The infrastructure build for the purpose is designed and tested carefully.

Since a large proportion of the economy in New Zealand is based on immigration including tourism, skilled immigration or temporary work visas. It is important to invest in such a system that is reliable and can facilitate as many people as possible.

The assessment reports of this online system reveal it to be a strong immigration operating model.
