PM Malcolm Turnbull said the hard-line immigration border protection and asylum seeker policies are vital despite the criticism. They are required to preserve multiculturalism within Australia. Turnbull said this pointing the situation in Britain regarding Brexit’s decision to leave EU and its counter immigration anxiety.

Turnbull is currently seeking to be re-elected in the upcoming elections. Pointing to the current condition in Brexit, he exclaimed the need of financial and political stability in Australia.

Australian Immigration department is currently having a strict policy against asylum seekers who reach Australia through boats. The government sends them to detention centres or to their point of departure.

The human rights advocates and international institutions like UN have slammed this harsh Australian Immigration policy a number of times. But the government is determined that it is the need of the hour.

It is vital to protect the border otherwise people of your country will lose faith in the Australian Immigration system. Also, free entry to anyone will be a great threat to the culture and the country.

The government in UK was unable to restrict these entries. This made the people think they lost control over the border protection policies.

The harsh border protection policies have protected the same to happen in Australia since 2013. Turnbull assured that no illegal boat arrival was successful within past 700 days that calls for around 2 years.
