The New Zealand Residence Programme (NZRP) is structured in three streams through which permanent residency is granted to eligible candidates;
• Family – For family members of New Zealand citizens and residents.
• For skilled workers, investors and entrepreneurs.
• International / Humanitarian – To meet international and humanitarian commitments (for example, the Pacific Access Category and refugee quota).
The Skilled Migrant Category:
Candidates who find themselves capable enough of having skills and work experienced that is highly sought after in New Zealand, then this is the right option for you to apply.
To file your visa application, you need to follow these steps;
1. Check your eligibility and calculate your points.
2. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) online.
3. You will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) if you have 160 points or more.
4. Submit a resident application within six months from the date of ITA.
5. Receive your visa after the successful completion of application.
The Migrant Investment Category (Investor 2 Category):
The Investor Visa (Investor 2 Category) is an option for entrepreneurs who plan to invest a minimum of NZ$3 million in New Zealand over a four-year period.
The recent changes introduced to the investor visa policies has made the process more competitive for candidates in terms of having higher levels of business experience, language skills and investments plans promoting growth in the country.
The main applicant must have a previous four years investment period, out of which 146 days in NZ in each of the last three years, or 438 days in NZ over the four year investment period.
Maximum age requirement for the primary applicant is 65. Moreover, he needs to provide evidence of English proficiency test as well.
Recent selections of EOIs under New Zealand Residence Program:
On Wednesday, 14 November 2018, candidates’ selection took place under the Skilled Migrant Category of New Zealand Residence program. 709 Expressions of Interest (EOI) were selected out of 1458 in the EOI pool. The lowest threshold for this round remained 160.
Note that these selection takes place every 2 weeks.
The previous selections were made on 31st October, 2018.
On November 15th, 6 Expression of Interests (EOI) were selected under the Migrant Investor category. (Investor category 2).
The selected candidates scored between 33 and 74 points.
Up to 25 applications are selected every two weeks, so it is advised that your EOI must be submitted before the next draw scheduled on 29 November 2018.
