The province of Alberta has recently launched a new appeal process, which targets the immigration candidates having received a refusal for their immigration application. This new process gives an opportunity to such candidates for submitting a request to reconsider the refusal decision under following grounds.
- When the application relates directly to the reason(s) mentioned in the decision letter
- The applicant is in a position to demonstrate that a mistake was made while applying program criteria to the application
The request for reconsideration should reach the concerned authorities within 30 calendar days. The time starts with the issuance of such a decision letter. The applicant named in the refusal letter is eligible to file a request.

According to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), a response may come within 30 days after receiving the reconsideration request. Furthermore, an appeal is not considerable if it falls under following circumstances.
- When the purpose of filing an appeal is to provide new evidence or re-state the evidence already provided with the application
- When the element of Compassionate and Humanitarian consideration is there
- When the applicant is asking for an exception or exemption to the program criteria
- If the applicant is not satisfied with any component of the final decision or with the final decision itself
Note: Submitting the request for reconsideration doesn’t guarantee the re-assessment of your application.
