In the latest Express Entry draw, 4,750 individuals received invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. This draw falls under the category of ‘no program specified,’ meaning applicants weren’t restricted to a particular immigration program.
A noteworthy change is observed in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which rose by 61 points, reaching a total of 561. This increase is in comparison to the previous Express Entry draw that also did not specify a particular program.
Details of Recent Express Entry Draw
In the latest Express Entry draw conducted on December 6, 2023, a total of 4,750 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency were issued. Applicants with a ranking of 4,750 or above were invited to submit their applications. The draw, which took place at 16:27:26 UTC, saw the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited set at 561. The tie-breaking rule was applied based on the data from November 08, 2023, at 06:00:13 UTC.
Notably, the CRS cutoff score experienced an increase, reaching 561. This upward shift was influenced by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decision to skip the previous biweekly round of invitations. The IRCC opted to forego the last round due to a technical glitch in the profile builder. It’s worth highlighting that this draw holds significance as it marks the first invitation round conducted since October 26, 2023.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry provides a universal platform for, Federal and Provincial governments. Moreover, it facilitates employers to choose prospective candidates out of the Express Entry pool. This Pool consists of such candidates, who stand eligible for any one of the mentioned below “Federal Economic Immigration Programs”.
- The Federal Skilled Trades Program
- The Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Canadian Experience Class
The candidates may receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian immigration. However, such candidates must hurry to complete their application form and submit it along with the required documents. The time for applying is 60 days and it takes six months from the date of receiving the application to complete the process.
The IRCC introduced a fresh set of selection criteria on May 31, 2023, placing a stronger emphasis on distinct professional and demographic attributes of candidates, going beyond their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. As a result, six new categories have emerged for Express Entry candidates:
- Healthcare
- STEM Professions (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
- Trades
- Transport
- Agriculture and Agri-Food
