Prince Edward Island, one of the four provinces of Atlantic Canada, has recently issued invitations to 147 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. These nominations facilitate candidates to obtain Canadian permanent residency in the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. The breakdown of this draw was not provided by the Prince Edward Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP).
The province’s PNP’s Express Entry Category is linked to the federal Express Entry stream. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points towards their Express Entry ranking score. These scores make an obvious impact to their ranking in the Express Entry pool.
So far 1175 invitations have been issued through the province’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. Minimum required scores for these categories have never been provided. Candidates with or without a job offer have been invited to apply for a provincial nomination from PEI.
PEI’s Labour Impact Category is divided into three streams — Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate. These categories require the submission of an EOI.
The Expression of Interest (EOI) profile needs to be submitted online by interested candidates which outline their required information. A maximum of 100 points are assigned on the basis of six selection factors: age, education, work experience language skills, employment and adaptability to the province.
Other than the Express Entry, 29 invitations were issued to candidates under the province’s Business Impact category’ Work Permit Stream. These candidates had atleast 130 points as per the Business Impact Category’s points grid. Following requirements need to be fulfilled to gain acceptable points under this category;
• Verifiable net worth of C$600,000 for investing in the province.
• Atleast 3 years of managerial or senior managerial experience in the proposed business.
• Having minimum age of 21 or maximum age of 59.
• Minimum education of secondary school or equivalent.
• English language skills equal to a minimum of CLB 4, or French skills equivalent to NCLC 4.
• Prove their intention to live and work in PEI.
