The news of Brexit’s referendum has not only affected UK and EU but its consequences will have their impact around the globe.
But New Zealand’s PM, John Key says that the immediate effects of this decision will be limited for NZ. The unofficial results show that 52% voters have voted for separation of UK from EU.
The investors worldwide have been taken aback by the decision.
PM John Key announced that NZ is seeking for a fresh trade with UK in long term. NZ is also planning to initiate a fresh trade deal with EU.
The two-year period for the UK to be a part of EU will give NZ room to work out future trade plans with both groups.
NZ has a good relation with both EU and UK. Andrew Little, the Labor Party leader suggested to benefit from the relations for trade purposes. He said that this is the time to have good trade relations with UK. He also suggested that we should start our negotiations with EU to revise the trade agreement. That suggests a double effort on the part of New Zealand.
Andrew also wants a negotiation for travelling of New Zealand citizens to these countries in the coming years. New Zealand immigration is also going to be affected by these policies.
James Shaw, the co-leader of Green Party said that UK’s decision to leave EU will have its effects around the globe. UK and EU are going to face instability in various fields and so does the world.
Brexit’s decision is an ultimatum to all the democracies that common people need to be listened to. They won’t tolerate the indifferent behaviour of the governments anymore, said Mr. Peters.
He further added that Brexit’s decision has opened doors for New Zealand to reconnect with UK. This will also include the New Zealand immigration policy for British citizens and vice versa.
The economy of NZ will have to suffer but the short term effects are low. Trade and export businesses are going to be suffered the most, once UK completely leaves EU.
Whatever the situation is between NZ and UK, NZ still offers New Zealand immigration opportunities to people globally. If you are interested in New Zealand immigration, contact us.
