New Zealand is all set to introduce a new automated system for identification process of the visa applicants. This identity management system will match the details of the candidate by an automated program.
The system is named as IDme. The system is designed such that it will automatically capture the face photos and fingerprints information of the candidates online. The system will then match this information with the data held by New Zealand Immigration Department.
The New Zealand Immigration Minister, Michael Woodhouse said that IDme is an opportunity for us to protect the system from identity frauds. It ensures that the candidate applying for the visa is actually the one he/she is assumed to be. It ensures the identity of a person.
Though online visa application means increased convenience for the candidate, it demands extra risk mitigation on the administration’s part.
The program will be released in two steps. The first step will take all the biographical personal data, fingerprints and a small volume of face photos. It will then automatically match that data set online.
The second stage is due to be released in the later quarter of this year. It is aimed to take all the face photo data for matching through this program.
New Zealand Immigration department is working to improve the customer focused business. The identity management system is the latest step in this regard. Candidates willing to apply for student visa, work visa or visitor visa can file their applications online. Third party partners such as immigration experts, immigration consultants and lawyers can also lodge an application on behalf of their client.
The facility of eVisas has been extended up to many countries and the updated immigration website is active and running. To facilitate the candidates and the passport-free visa application process, the website has been made user-friendly and easy to navigate.
The changes are aimed to provide enhanced and standardized user experience. The quality requirements are considered and measured. It is ensured that the customers have the same quality experience online, like the one they had in person, added Woodhouse, the New Zealand Immigration Minister.
