What is Fulbright U.S. Student Program?

Fulbright U.S. Student Program is basically an initiative that funds individually designed researches or studies. It also funds some English Teaching Assistant Programs. An applicant is required to submit a “Statement of Grant Purpose,” which should explain the activities to take place during an academic year in a participating country.

During the grants period, Some of the assigned persons by Fulbright will live and work with the people of a particular country. They will meet different people and share daily experiences. The initiative encourages cultural exchange through direct interaction of people in daily tasks, classrooms, and workplaces. Actually, the grantee wants to have an experience of how people do their things, how they think about various things, their viewpoints, and their beliefs. The individual will meet with the hosts in an open atmosphere and try to promote the mutual understanding.

Applicants for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program include:

Graduates:  Recent graduates and senior graduates can apply if they do have some kind of internship or direct work experience relevant to the project.

Master’s and doctoral candidates: The candidates need to show the capacity of independent research. Also, they need to prove that they have some basic knowledge of history, current major events in the country for they are applying and their culture.

Young professionals: The young professionals include creative artists, law professionals, journalists, business, writers, and some other professional fields. The professionals who can apply should have an experience of about five years on their field. For the candidates who have more than five year experience, you can apply for the Council for International Exchange of Scholars.
