What Are Category-Based Express Entry Draws?
In 2023, IRCC introduced special Express Entry draws based on specific categories. These draws focus on candidates who meet certain requirements in one of the following six areas:
1. French Language Skills: Candidates must show French proficiency at CLB Level 7 or above.
2. Relevant Work Experience: You need at least six months of experience in one of these fields:
- 35 healthcare jobs
- 25 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) jobs
- 10 trade jobs
- 10 transportation jobs
- 3 agriculture and agri-food jobs
What Do You do If You Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?
Getting an ITA is just the first step. Here’s what you need to do next:
1. Gather All Required Documents:
- Your passport or travel document
- Results from your language tests (IELTS, CELPIP, etc.)
- Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
- Letters proving your work experience
- Proof of funds (if needed)
2. Submit Your Application Within 60 Days: After receiving the ITA, you have 60 days to send in your application for permanent residency.
3. Medical and Police Certificates: Make sure your medical exams and police clearance certificates are current and valid.
