Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada regulate its twelfth draw under the Express Entry system, resulting in the issuance of 589 invitations to apply (ITAs) for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Candidates have to achieve a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 691 to be considered.
Candidates, who are part of the Express Entry pool and have obtained a provincial nomination from a Canadian province, are selected in PNP-specific draws. This is the fourth such draw in 2023. The previous one was on March 1 and 667 candidates were invited. After that whole draws think about the applicants from programs of Express Entry.
IRCC Updated Funds Proof
As per the new guidelines, all Express Entry candidates are required to provide proof of funds indicating that they possess adequate financial resources to settle down in Canada. IRCC announced on May 2 stating that the financial requirements for candidates of Express Entry in Canada have been revised.
The amount of settlement funds required is revised by IRCC on an annual basis and is based on 50% of the low-income cut-off totals. The amount varies based on the number of individuals a candidate must be capable of supporting.
Candidates must now update their profiles to reflect that they have the required settlement amounts to keep their Express Entry eligibility.
Candidates belonging to the Canadian Experience Class or Express Entry candidates with an authentic job offer and permission to work in Canada are exempted from submitting funds proof. This applies to candidates applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Federal Skilled Trades Program as well.
A Review of Express Entry in 2023 Thus Far
In the latest draw, 3,500 candidates who have 484 CRS scores were invited by IRCC. This comes after the previous draw on April 26, in which 3,500 candidates with CRS scores of 483 were invited. Notably, the number of candidates invited per draw has reduced significantly since March 2023 when IRCC conducted four consecutive draws, inviting more than 21,000 candidates in total, with three of those draws inviting 7,000 candidates each.
The number of candidates invited in March was the second-highest in the history of Express Entry, surpassed only by a draw in February 2021 that invited 27,332 CEC candidates to apply.
Since late 2022 and through March 2023, Express Entry draws have resumed their regular schedule, taking place every second Wednesday. After having weekly draws in March, the regular schedule for draws was followed in April. Contrary to the draws held in January and February 2023, which were primarily program-specific draws for the Provincial Nominee Program, the draws held in March and April were normal all-program draws. The Federal Skilled Workers Program held its first-ever program-specific draw on February 2, 2023, according to IRCC.
Express Entry
The Canadian Express Entry system is an online system used by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers who want to move to Canada. It is a points-based system that assesses candidates based on their skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other factors. Candidates are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their qualifications, and those with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residency through periodic draws conducted by IRCC.
Express Entry manages three immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class, and some Provincial Nominee Programs are also linked to Express Entry.
