Express Entry Draw: Canada Invited 3,300 Candidates for PR on August 27, 2024

August 28, 2024BY Sheraz

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently invited 3,300 people to apply for permanent residency (PR) in the latest Express Entry draw. This draw took place on 27 August, 2024.

This draw specifically targeted individuals who applied under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 507 or higher.

It’s the second Express Entry draw this week, and we can likely expect more rounds of invitations on either Wednesday or Thursday.

The invited candidates now have a two-month window to turn in their full application. This needs to include all the required paperwork such as health checks, police reports, and evidence of financial resources.

How to Boost Your CRS Score?

If your CRS score is lower than the recent cutoff, there are several ways you can improve it:

  1. Language Skills: Retake language exams like IELTS or CELPIP to try for higher scores.
  2. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): Make sure all your educational qualifications are fully assessed to gain the maximum points.
  3. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Look into different PNPs across Canada, as receiving a nomination can greatly increase your CRS score.
  4. Job Offer: Getting a valid job offer from a Canadian employer can add up to 200 points to your CRS score.
  5. Work Experience: Gaining more work experience can also help raise your score.

Express Entry and Canada’s Immigration Objectives

Express Entry plays a crucial role in Canada’s immigration plan, designed to attract skilled workers who can help drive the country’s economy.

This system streamlines the application process, ensuring that Canada stays competitive in the global search for top talent.

This year, Canada plans to welcome over 485,000 new immigrants, with a significant portion—110,770—expected to arrive through the Express Entry system. This effort aligns with the government’s goals to tackle labor shortages, boost economic growth, and maintain population levels.

What Are Occupation-Based Targeted Express Entry Draws?

Express Entry is focusing on five key sectors, with links to a full list of targeted jobs:

  1. Healthcare
  2. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions
  3. Trades, including carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  4. Transport
  5. Agriculture and agri-food
