Thousands of students from around the world apply to study in British Columbia. You can either come to British Columbia for a recognized degree or to learn English. You must know that without following a proper procedure, you can’t get a study visa approval.
Follow the steps below if you wish to study in British Columbia:
Apply for Institution
First, you need to decide the program you want to get enrollment for, and then apply to the institutions that are currently offering those programs. You can easily find the details about different schools and programs by clicking here.
To apply in different institutions, you need to thoroughly research about the schools that are currently offering your desired program. Also, make sure that all those institutions where you apply are recognized by the Government of British Columbia.
You will be issued an acceptance letter as soon you get qualified for the applied program. Don’t forget to check the available scholarships that could help you with school fees and living costs.
Apply for a Study Permit
If you get accepted for program that is more than six months long and you’re not a permanent resident, you will have to apply for a study permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
As soon you get your acceptance letter from the Institute, don’t delay for a single day and apply for study permit because it may take more than a month to process your application. Application letter must have:
- Proof of acceptance letter from the institution (Attack acceptance letter)
- Proof that you can afford your study expenses and living expenses (Attach your bank statement or proof of loan)
Not only this, you will have to apply for a temporary resident visa for the exact period of time you’re going to stay to complete your course.
On-Arrival Verification
When you arrive in Canada, you will have to provide the following documents to the Canadian Border Services officer:
- Valid Passport
- Valid temporary resident visa
- Letters of reference or any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied
- Letter of introduction from the visa office where your study application was approved
- Proof that you have enough money to bear your study expenses and living expenses
- Copy of the acceptance letter from the institution you applied to
Work to manage your living expenses
Once you start taking regular lectures for the program you applied to, you would need a temporary work permit for students to be able to meet your living expenses. You can visit the local Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) office for further details.
You can get permission to work up to 20 hours a week while you’re studying in British Columbia. For the international students, it’s important to work while you study unless you can bear all the expenses easily.
Remember, working in British Columbia would definitely benefit you in terms of money. Also, you will gain experience that will improve your chances of becoming a Permanent Resident after you graduate.
