Canada Welcomed 32,000 Tech Workers From April 2022 to March 2033

According to a recent report co-released by the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) and Canada’s Tech Network (CTN), Canada has successfully integrated over 32,000 highly skilled technology experts into its workforce within a one-year timeframe.

The new research from The Technology Councils of North America sheds light on the rise of Canada’s tech labor pool, which can be allocated to an open and growth-oriented immigration policy. According to the research, Canada welcomed 32,000 technology experts in the previous year, from April 2022 to March 2023.

Reason Behind the Massive Growth in Workforce in Canada

The reason for this growth is mainly because Canada has friendly immigration policies and offers cost advantages for labor. The research also ranks the most appealing Canadian locations for top tech talent, with Mississauga, Ontario topping the list, closely followed by Montreal, Quebec, and Waterloo, Ontario.

Below is the list of tech workers invited by Canada from several countries country from April 2022 to March 2023:

  1. Canada invited 15,097 tech workers from India.
  2. Canada invited 1,808 tech workers from Nigeria.
  3. Canada invited 1,675 tech workers from Brazil.
  4. Canada invited 1,207 tech workers from Ukraine.
  5. Canada invited 1,129 tech workers from the Philippines.
  6. Canada invited 1,046 tech workers from Iran.
  7. Canada invited 935 tech workers from France.
  8. Canada invited 744 tech workers from the UAE.
  9. Canada invited 715 tech workers from Hong Kong SAR.
  10. Canada invited 588 tech workers from Pakistan.

Canada’s Top Cities for Tech Worker In-Migration

  1. Mississauga, Ontario: 1,900 tech workers
  2. Montreal, Quebec: 959 tech workers
  3. Waterloo, Ontario, Canada: 633 tech workers
  4. Windsor, Ontario, Canada: 557 tech workers
  5. Ottawa, Ontario, Canada: 525 tech workers
  6. Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada: 456 tech workers
  7. Kitchener, Ontario, Canada: 437 tech workers
  8. London, Ontario, Canada: 418 tech workers
  9. Hamilton, Ontario, Canada: 363 tech workers
  10. Calgary, Alberta, Canada: 331 tech workers

According to the survey, in the year from April 2022 to March 2023, Canada saw a big increase in the number of technology experts who decided to come and work in the country. The total number of these experts was 32,115.
