Australian Government has a plan to quickly change the system in the “skilled migration category” that addresses the introduction of a mandatory provisional visa before a migrant is granted a permanent resident’s visa.
All of these plans are with the National Security Committee and are to be put before the cabinet in 2017.
One of the main goals of this new idea is to saving the budgets by reducing the access to social security payments to newly arrived immigrants. There’s this concern that it may create a new divide in the society.
These reforms can create a two-tier structure in the society where Australian citizens are treated differently than the immigrants. Now there’s this concern as well that if they treat the immigrants differently, they might not be that much willing to contribute to the Australian society in the way they are doing as for this moment.

Now, we have to realize this thing that one out of two Australians were either born outside Australia or their parents were born outside Australia.
Australia’s Green party has openly criticized this idea as it can lead to division and fear in the society, as they believe this is the time when unity should be the top priority this idea may lead to exploitation of citizens putting them in division and fear.
