This category of immigration is for candidates looking to settle in Saskatchewan and:
- They have proven experience in farming
- They have eligible amount of money or assets to invest in farming
- The candidates have a plan to invest or run a farm in Saskatchewan
Eligibility
In order to be nominated in this category, a candidate needs all of the following:
- Available Equity: Candidate must have a net worth of at least 500,000 Canadian dollars
- Refundable Cash Deposit: Candidate has to sign a Performance Agreement to purchase and actively operate a farm in Saskatchewan. By doing so, a deposit of 75,000 Canadian dollars will be made to the trust which will be returnable once you meet the Performance Agreement terms. Otherwise, Province will own your deposit.
- Mandatory Visit: Candidate will have to stay in Saskatchewan for the business research for at least 5 working days. Before leaving, SNIP representative will interview the candidate.
- Relevant Knowledge: Candidate must possess the experience and skills required to run a farm. A Candidate must submit the documents of educational degree, training, bank statement and work experience. These documents will then be verified once a candidate has made an entry in Saskatchewan.
- A practical proposal to run a commercial farm in Saskatchewan.
Young Farmers
The Young Farmer Stream was initially created to provide young farm families to settle in Saskatchewan and run farming operations in rural areas.
Criteria
To get nominated in the stream, a candidate needs:
- Personal net worth of at least 300,000 Canadian dollars to be considered.
- Confirmation of the net worth when inquired.
- To be below 40 years of age at the time of application
- To have at least three years of experience in the farming operations as:
- Farm owner
- Farm manager
- Practical farming experience
- To provide a proposal based on research or formal coursework which could work according to the Saskatchewan agricultural conditions. It should be a commercial project than hobby farming. Farming business must have annual revenue of 10,000 Canadian dollars.
- To have marketable employments skills that allow him/her to supplement the farming income. If you’re bringing your spouse, he/she must have the relevant skills based on the education.
Disqualification
A candidate may be disqualified if:
- A candidate doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria
- Candidate or family member have serious medical condition
- Dependent family member or the candidate has a criminal record
- There’s an unresolved child custody dispute between the parents
- Intentional misinterpretation made during the whole process of applying
- Intentionally committing a fraud during the application process
Once a candidate keeps a check on these details, you have to make two payments:
- 2,500 Canadian dollars processing fee
- 75,000 Canadian dollars deposit to the trust
After the selection, the candidate will be allowed to settle in Saskatchewan and run a farm operation and can bring his/her family along with the kids.
