For the first-year level
First of all, you need to complete a qualitication in your home country, which is recognized in New Zealand or at least equivalent to one of the programmes accpeted by universities.
- By attending secondary school in New Zealand and achieving the university entrance standard.
- By completing a foundation programme at a university in New Zealand.
- By completing a recognised* university foundation programme offered by a non-university provider in New Zealand.
*On a very important note, your desired programmes should be accpeted by New Zealand Universities
What are the language requirements?
For the admission at the first-year level, the candidate needs to get a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS. TOEFL is also accepted by most of the universities and you need to obtain 80 marks in TOEFL. However, you must visit the website of your desired university to confirm the IELTS alternatives.
Requirements to complete your degree in New Zealand
Applications should be made direct to the universities. If you have started study in your home country and now you want to continue it in New Zealand, you can surely do that, but you need to send your application directly to the university.

For higher studies, you need to find a reputable universty and complete their requirements. Once you do it, you will be eligible for a New Zealand Study Visa
