Writing Procedure for Career Episodes

These reports represent your knowledge and experience in your engineering field. There is a total of three career episode reports which should be efficient enough to provide evidence for your knowledge and skills in the nominated occupation.

What should be included in Career Episodes?

Career episodes can include any significant task/project you performed during your education or currently working on. If you are working as an engineer or have worked in the past, then mention your position in the firm. Make sure it should be related to the nominated field.

How long a Career Episode should be?

Each career episode should be written in good English with about 1000-2,500 words. There is no need to provide too much technical information in Career Episodes.

How to structure a Career Episode?

  • Firstly, the most important part is to present it in good English.
  • Use pronoun “I” for task description.
  • Strong emphasis on the skills, tasks, projects, or experience.
  • Mention your personal role in tasks that how and what you did.
  • Give numbering to each paragraph in each Career Episode. Numbering should be as follows;
Career Episode 1 (paragraphs 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and so on)
Career Episode 2 (paragraphs 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and so on)
Career Episode 3 (paragraphs 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and so on)

Each Career Episode must have four sections which are mentioned below with the contents to be added to them.

  1. Introduction (100 words)
    – Duration of career episodes
    – Location of your experience/education

    – Your position in the organization

Note that the data should be written in chronological order.

  1. Background (500 words)
    – Objectives and nature of the project
    – About the engineering firm and nature of the work
    – Organogram as a proof of your designation in the organization
    – Your duties and job description
  2. Personal Engineering Activity (500-1000 words)
    – Describe your own role in the tasks delegated to you
    – How you applied your skills and knowledge in the projects
    – Strategies you applied to handle tasks
    – Your role in the team
  3. Summary (500-100 words)
    – Your Impressions and views on engineering activity/project
    – Your contribution to the project
    – Success/goal achievement of project

Summary Statement (SS)

This is a critical part of CDR and it includes all the cross references to paragraphs in career episodes and a summary that you have demonstrated all the elements required for the nominated field as mentioned in ANZCO code. It would be better to take an expert advice for this section.
