Want to migrate to Australia? These occupations are open for immigration

Individuals interested in Australian immigration need to nominate a skilled occupation from the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). You need to nominate a skilled occupation to apply for an independent, family sponsored points tested or temporary graduate visa.

Australian Immigration department has released the new SOL for 2016-2017. This list will be effective from July 1, 2016.

An Australian immigration agent Youssef Haddad reported that as long as you have the right skill for Australian labour market, the Australian government has no concerns about your nationality. But application processing can be a complicated process regarding the assessment of your nominated skill.

Skilled migration is the most authentic way for skilled professionals to live and work in Australia, he further adds.

New Occupation

The newly released SOL for 2016-2017 has not changed much as compared to the previous year. A few occupations have been removed and a fewer has been added. The details on these occupations are as follows:

Removed Occupations

• Mining engineer (excluding petroleum)
• Petroleum engineer
• Occupational health and safety adviser
• Environmental health officer
• Dental hygienist
• Dental prosthetics
• Dental technician
• Dental therapist
• Metallurgist

New Occupation

Added Occupations

• Audiologist
• Orthotics or prosthetics

Skilled occupations under the label of Trade have predominantly occupied the SOL 2016-2017. These include motor mechanic, chef, metal fabricator, bricklayer, carpenter and painting trade workers.

Australian immigration department has also released Consolidated Skilled Occupations List (CSOL). You need to nominate a skilled occupation from CSOL if you are lodging an application for subclass 190, 456 and 186.

The most sought jobs in March 2016 were:

Developer programmer
• Chef
• Cafe or restaurant manager
• Marketing specialist
• ICT business analyst
Simplified Student Visa Framework Introduced

International students who wish to study in Australia will be affected by the new student visa framework.

The Australian Immigration department is seeking feedback on this new visa policy. The visa is due to be introduced in November 2016.
