English pathway destinations: Study in Australia or New Zealand

While the U.S. and the U.K. were traditionally the top choices for many international students looking to improve their English, Southern Hemisphere nations are becoming increasingly popular among Asian and Latin American students looking to get more bang for their buck.

Australia and New Zealand, famed for their temperate climates, laid back lifestyle, and stunning scenery, are fast becoming key contenders for students looking for a different English learning experience. Students can expect highly-qualified teachers, along with industry-leading teaching technologies and facilities, not to mention exceptional, one-of-a kind programs.

Thanks to the range of courses available, as well as the outstanding teaching staff, the host of extracurricular activities on offer, and easy access to student visas, Australia and New Zealand cater to all English levels and nationalities with courses that won’t break the bank.

Students can choose from a wide variety of courses, including IELTS exam preparation, Cambridge FCE, CAE and BEC exam preparation, and more unusual options such as English + Surfing.

English is also the first language in both countries, meaning that students can practice outside the classroom in everyday situations, or while out socializing with friends.

Aussies and Kiwis – as they are affectionately known – are known to be among the most welcoming and laid back people in the world. Both countries are famed for their easy-going lifestyle, meaning that students will settle in and feel at home quicker than they would if they were studying in a large city like London or New York.

Another plus for studying in Australasia is the stable economy and political situation, while immigration is welcomed in both countries, with residents keen to share and explore new experiences with new friends from far and wide.

It’s good news for international students too, as there are plenty of work opportunities available. On a student visa, students are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week, meaning you can supplement your education with income from a part-time job.

Students with less free time on their hands can also study a short English course or English for university preparation course on a Working Holiday Visa, meaning you can cram in some study time during a summer break. This is also great news for students keen to earn a bit of extra cash in order to explore and experience some of the exciting and breath-taking experiences these two unique countries have to offer.

Australia has something for everyone! Students can try diving the Great Barrier Reef, visiting Uluru, climbing the iconic Harbour Bridge, driving along the Great Ocean Road or exploring World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, just for starters. Wine buffs will be happy in the Barossa Valley or Margaret River. Nearby New Zealand is sure to delight with picturesque ‘Lord of the Rings’ scenery, adrenaline junkie-heaven Canterbury, the deep blue waters of the Bay of Islands and the glaciers and mountains of Milford Sound.
