Build Your Future in the UK: A message for those who are ready to take the next step in their UK career.

September 7, 2026BY Daud Rizwan

Whether building a long-term future in the UK has always been your dream, you need to know your options and begin to plan for it now.

The UK Home Office released its latest immigration statistics, showing that around 200,000 settlement grants were issued in the year to June 2026. This is up 24% from the previous year.

These figures are not indicative that the UK has launched a new direct settlement programme or that all overseas applicants are able to apply for permanent residence immediately. They do, however, demonstrate that those who are eligible and take the right path of immigration and fulfil the relevant requirements can secure a permanent future in the UK.

What is meant by the term settlement?

Indefinite Leave to Remain (also referred to as settlement) will enable an eligible person to reside in the UK without a definite period of immigration.

This may be possible after a set period of time and upon meeting certain conditions regarding employment, salary, family situation, immigration history, English-language proficiency and continuous residence have been met, depending on the route.

Some potential pathways may include:

  • The following work and skilled employment routes are eligible:
  • Family, spouse/partner routes
  • Long-term residence routes
  • Some additional options for immigration eligibility:

The right route is based on individual circumstances.

So, why should Pakistani applicants plan now?

There are very talented Pakistanis with good skills, experience and aspirations of making a better future in other countries. Unfortunately, some people are still waiting, due to lack of knowledge on where to start.

It is not that starting now is just an ad hoc application. It involves reviewing your eligibility, determining the best path to take, and optimizing your profile.

Immigration requirements are subject to change. The salary ranges, occupations, financial requirements and visa conditions may be subject to change. If you don’t prepare, you might miss a good opportunity.

If you’re not ready to apply now, you can start on:

  • Your English-language test
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Pupil’s authorization documents and transcripts
  • CERT evidence of employment and salary
  • Financial planning and bank history
  • An updated CV
  • A copy of previous visas or visa refusals.

With proper preparation, you can prevent extra costs, substandard applications and avoidable delays.

There are so many choices available that you should only use them if you have a profile.

There is no “one size fits all” solution for immigration to the UK. Your age, education, occupation, work experience, skill in the English language, finances, family situation and immigration history must all be taken into consideration.

What works for others doesn’t always work for you. This is why social media rumours or copying other people’s apps can be dangerous.

The correct way to look at it is to comprehend:

  1. If you’re not sure, try out a few different routes to see if any of them suit you.
  2. Is it likely to meet its needs in the near future?
  3. Does it have other needs that are not being met that also need to be addressed?
  4. Which documents will be required
  5. Any changes that should be made before applying.
  6. If the path could be a future route

Your UK Journey can begin today!

Don’t take it for granted that your chance has come and gone. Many of the successful applicants started out with questions, incomplete information or weaknesses in their profiles. Their difference was that they got the proper guidance and began preparations at the right time.

The new numbers are positive but each application is considered on its own merits. Nothing is ever guaranteed unless it meets the criteria of an eligible route; and settlement is usually reached only when the requirements of an eligible route have been met.

The initial step then should be to get a professional profile assessment.
