Applying for Canada Immigration: The Deadline to apply Under Express Entry Stream is now reduced to 60 days

The deadline to apply for a permanent residence under the Express Entry system is reduced to 60 days. Previously this period was 90 days for the candidates who have received the invitation to apply (ITA).

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made this amendment public on June 26, 2018.

After receiving an ITA, the candidate must do following things before the expiry of 60 days:

  • Submit a completely filled application for Canadian PR through their online account. The candidate must provide all the supporting documents with the application
  • The candidate may decline the invitation to apply under the following circumstances;
    • When the candidate is unable to apply within 60 days
    • A change in their circumstances precludes them to apply
    • They have lost their eligibility to apply

Note: In any of the above-mentioned cases, the profile of a candidate will remain active in the pool until the expiry of a profile. This makes it possible to consider the candidate for the future draws.

If the candidate fails either to apply within 60 days or decline the invitation, the invitation will stand expired. This means that the candidate will not be a part of Express Entry pool for future draws. Such a candidate will have to submit a new profile with a view to re-enter the pool.
