Saskatchewan invites Express Entry, Occupation In-Demand candidates; draw size shrinks, bringing a rise to the CRS score

Saskatchewan conducted another draw on May 22nd, 2019, and has issued 325 ITAs to candidates through the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand sub-categories. These candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

The Comprehensive Ranking Score in this draw has drastically increased to 82 for both of the categories. The sudden rise of the CRS score can be attributed to the fact that the size of selected candidates shrunk; there was a less gap between the current and previous draw.

Those invited had an Expression of Interest, or EOI, registered under Saskatchewan’s International Skilled Worker Express Entry sub-category, which allows the province to nominate candidates in the federal Express Entry system for Canadian permanent residence.

The Express Entry system manages the profiles of candidates for three of Canada’s main economic immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

By successfully receiving a provincial nomination, an additional 600 points are granted to the Express Entry candidates towards the Comprehensive Ranking Score.

How to Apply?

Potential Express Entry candidates have to submit a separate EOI that includes information on their education, work experience, proficiency in English or French, on the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) portal in order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.

Candidates can also gain points if they have any connections to the province in the form of a close family member or past work or study experience in Saskatchewan.

Besides other criteria, the Express Entry candidates must demonstrate work experience in one of the occupations found on Saskatchewan’s In-Demand Occupations List.

To become eligible, candidates must score at least 60 points can enter the pool of candidates.
