During 2017, the Human Capital Priorities Stream issued Notifications of Interest (NOIs) at various occasions. Especially in July 2017, this stream was opened after waiving the requirement of having a minimum 400 CRS points. This exception was for Express Entry candidates who hold relevant work experience in various occupations related to the Information and Communications Technology.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has received a green light by the provincial authorities to nominate 6,600 immigrants in 2018. This amounts to an increase of approximately 600 more nominations as compared to Canada’s federal government allocation for 2017.

The OINP officials expressed their intention to resume the issuance of Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to those applicants who qualify for its Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. This process assists Ontario to look into the federal Express Entry pool and chose candidates from the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Class. These candidates must have obtained a minimum of 400 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. In addition, they must also fulfill some other eligibility criteria.

An Express Entry candidate holding a provincial nomination will receive 600 points in addition to their CRS score. This enables them to avail an invitation to apply for and ultimately seek the Canadian permanent residence.

The selected candidates may submit their application online for the provincial nomination within 45 days after receiving their NOIs through the Human Capital Priorities Stream. The other two Express Entry-aligned streams of Ontario, the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream and the Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, will also remain open and issue NOIs to the selected candidates.
