New Brunswick announced targeted searches of candidates from the Express Entry pool

New Brunswick will now be selecting candidates from the Express Entry pool, whether they’ve registered an Expression of Interest with the province or not.  Those who receive an invitation to apply (ITA) from New Brunswick will receive an additional 600 points towards their CRS score.  This increases the prospects for the applicant to get an ITA in the very next draw, and further process their application for Canadian permanent residence.

This announcement was made on July 26th by the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) that it will be directly selecting candidates from the Federal Express Entry pool to address the provincial labor-market needs.

The Express Entry pool operates the profiles of candidates for three of economic-class immigration programs of Canada, i.e. the Federal Skilled Worker ClassFederal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates are assigned a score based to their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, on the basis of which they are ranked in the pool.

Several other provinces, i.e. Ontario, Alberta and Nova Scotia, already operate their Express Entry-linked nomination streams, including Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream, the Alberta Express Entry Stream and Nova Scotia’s Labour Market Priorities Stream. These provinces have regularly targeted candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool through these streams.

Express Entry candidates selected through New Brunswick’s targeted searches will be notified about a Letter of Interest in their Express Entry accounts. New Brunswick will use this new approach in addition to the Expression of Interest (EOI)-based invitations issued through the NBPNP’s Express Entry Labour Market Stream (EELMS).

Candidates who receive an invitation to apply from New Brunswick through these occasional draws will still have to meet the eligibility requirements for the NBPNP’s (EELMS).
