Muslims in Canada are Proud to Have Canadian Identity, Says Report

A new study unveiled that Muslim citizens of Canada has a serious attachment with the country and they believe that Canada is heading in the right direction. 83 percent Muslims said that they are very happy to be living in the Canada. One the other hand, 73 percent of non-Muslim Canadians said that they are proud to be Canadians.

A polling and market research firm, Environics Research Group carried this research. The research is based on the immigrants only.

During the study, analysts found that:

Muslims in Canada are Proud

  • Muslims believe that their Canadian identity is as important as non-Muslims living in Canada.
  • When it comes to diversity and connections between cultures, Muslims are as interested as non-Muslims.
  • People who have a strong Muslim identity are actually more proud of being a Canadian.
  • Nine in ten Muslims say that they are happy with the things going in the Canada.
  • Most of the Muslims living in Canada believes that both religion and country is the important part of their identity. 84 percent said that religion is important while 81 percent said that country is important part of their identity.
  • Muslims want to get merged in the Canadian society rather than remain distinct.
  • 90 percent of the Muslims believe that current federal government will help in improving the relations among Muslims and non-Muslims.

Canada’s freedom and diversity are the main factors why most of the Muslims voted in the favor of Canada. Seven in ten Muslims has used Canadian Immigration to become a Canadian citizen.

From all the participants including Muslims and Non-Muslims, 84 percent believe that Muslims are treated better than Muslism in other countries. In 2006, 77 percent said that Canada treats Muslims better than other Western countries.

Another interesting fact revealed in this survey is that about two -third of Muslims voted for the now-governing Liberal Party in 2015 elections.

Freedom and diversity

“The most important result of this survey is that Canadian Muslims believe that they are living a better life as compared to the Muslims living in other countries. In the United States, one of the potential presidential candidates, Donald Trump declared that he will ban all the Muslims if he won the future elections. At the same time, Canadian Prime Minister went to the airport to say welcome to Syrian refugees during this winter. That is the difference,” said by Attorney David Cohen.

“Canada is proud to support all the living beings in the same manner while the global tensions are at its peak. The report provides a positive message about Canadian government and citizens, which is great.”

At the end, people who tell you that living in a foreign country is a tough thing and you feel like homeless and alone actually sends you a wrong message. The truth is that you get settled in no time and foreigners are very cooperative. The current survey report tells you that people are very satisfied with their living standards in Canada.
