Lately, a number of people have been taking the services of immigration experts to get a successful immigration visa. But at the same time, a number of people have been faking the immigration services.

How to not be a victim of such fraudulent immigration practitioners? Keep reading…

When you take a decision as important as immigration, be it for citizenship, visa status extension and adjustment of status or even deportation, think twice.

  • Consider a second or even third opinion.
  • Investigate about your agency.
  • Avoid part-time immigration consultants.
  • Don’t leave any of the documents with your agency or immigration practitioner.
  • Your original documents are not required for lodging an immigration application. Keep this in mind. You need original documents and their copies for your interview with the officials of high commission office of that country within your region.
  • Make sure what you are signing. Never sign a blank document. Also, read the documents carefully before you sign them.
  • Make sure you have a copy of your own for whatever you provide to the agency, be it a form or any other document. In the same manner, keep a copy of whatever the agency is filing on your behalf. If the filings are through email, make sure you get your part of the record.
  • It is better to make payments through cheques. It is easy to track them. In case it is not possible, use a money order as the last resort. But it is difficult to track money orders.
  • Whether you are paying through a cheque or in cash, make sure you get your receipt with your name, the name of your agency, agency’s address, paid amount, any balance left, type of case, and the printed name and signature of the agency member who is dealing your case.
  • Go for a written contract in addition to the receipts.
  • Anyone asking you for a large sum of an extra fee to speed up, fix or guarantee your case, avoid them.

Keep these in mind and you can avoid being a victim of fraudulent practitioners.
