Four New Work Visas By Australian Immigration Department

The Australian government is about to replace the existing work, training and research visas with four new work visas in November, forming a new work visas framework.

“This framework reduces red tape and makes applying for visas easier” – Australian Immigration Department.

Good news for those who want to go to Australia on a temporary basis for their work or any other activity. With the introduction of the new framework (Australia new work visas), your application process will become easier. Check out the subclasses and their applicability.

Subclass 400 Temporary Work Visa (Temporary Stay Specialist)

In this new framework, the following people can apply under this subclass.

  • Workers who want to enter Australia for a fixed time duration for any short-term and non-ongoing work.
  • People who want to do any specialized work in Australia’s interest in limited time duration.

Australian introduced new work visas

Subclass 403 Temporary Work Visa (International Relations)

This visa is for people who wish to come to Australia on a temporary basis for the following activities.

  • Government Agreement stream related work.
  • For representing any foreign country.
  • Foreign language teaching in schools.
  • Seasonal Worker Program participant can go for this visa.
  • As a full-time domestic worker for a diplomat.
  • As a person with statutory privileges and immunities.

Subclass 407 Training Visas

People can apply for this visa if they want to enter Australia in following cases.

  • For any occupational training program.
  • Participating in professional development activities’ classes.

Subclass 408 Temporary Activity Visa

Australia new work visas

This visa is applicable to people who want to enter Australia on a temporary basis for any socio-cultural activities. The following cases are included in this visa.

  • For any work in entertainment industry.
  • In order to participate in non-ongoing social/cultural activities on the invitation of Australian organization.
  • For observing or participating in any academic research project.
  • For full-time work related to religious activities.
  • To participate in cultural exchange programs or the program for promoting international relations.
  • Training and participation in high-level
  • Working under Staff Exchange arrangement as a skilled worker.
  • For participating, in any event, favored by Australian Government.
  • For working as a crew member of a superyacht.
  • For working full-time in the household of a senior foreign executive.

Visa Subclasses About to Rule Out

Once these visas come into effect on November 19, they will rule out the previous visas. The department of immigration Australia will stop accepting any new application under the previous subclasses. These previous subclasses are listed as under and they will no longer remain effective from November 19 onwards.

  • Subclass 401 Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) visa
  • Subclass 402 Training and Research visa
  • Subclass 416 Special Program visa
  • Subclass 420 Temporary Work (Entertainment) visa
  • Subclass 488 Superyacht Crew visa.

The new visa framework will remove the requirements of sponsorship and nomination for short-stay activities. Due to this reason, this framework will reduce red tape for different sectors of business and industry. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection says that the new framework for visas is designed to make applying for temporary visas easier.
