The Australian immigration department has provided the results for Skill Select latest round results on July 20, 2016. The visa subclasses include Skilled – Independent and Skilled – Regional subclasses.

The immigration department issued 848 visa invitations under subclass 189 and 100 invitations under subclass 489.

SkillSelect invites candidates with the highest score on points test for the relevant visa category. In case, the candidates have secured the same score, then the invitation is sent in order of their time of application. The Expression of Interest with earlier dates is considered first.
The minimum score limit on points test for subclass 189 is 60 till July 20, 2016. Whereas the minimum score limit for subclass 489 is 65 points on the points test till June 2, 2016.
Some skilled occupations have very high rate of applications. The Australian immigration department has decided to have a pro rata arrangement for such skilled occupations so that they can be made open for invitation throughout the programme year. These occupations include:
For such occupations, SkillSelect first issue invitations for subclass 189 and then the remaining for subclass 489. In case all places are filled by subclass 189, then subclass 489 has no invitation issued for these occupations.
The points test score for the above professions are given below with their respective dates of effect:
Accountants – point score: 70 w.e.f. May 30, 2016
ICT Business and System Analysts – point score: 70 w.e.f. June 25, 2016
Software and Application Programmers – point score: 65 w.e.f. April 20, 2016
Auditors, Company Secretaries, and Corporate Treasurers – the new point score is to be announced for this occupation.
