Alberta has Announced a Higher Nomination Intake Plans for the Year 2018

The maximum Provincial Nominee Program allotment for the year 2018 will be 5,600 nominations. The province of Alberta recently declared this figure and shared its plans regarding the launch of two new streams aligned with the Express Entry.

The figure displays an increase of 100 nominations with reference to the ‘Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program’. The total allotment of nominations for the year 2017 was 5,500.

Alberta is hoping to receive somewhat higher allotment in 2018. The reason for this expectation is the multi-year immigration plan of Federal Government that came out on November 1, 2017. The federal government is planning to increase the Provincial Nominee Program target up to 55,000 for the year 2018. Previously in 2017, the particular target for this program was 51,000.

Upcoming Streams for 2018

Alberta has Announced a Higher Nomination Intake Plans for the Year 2018

At present, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is working through these three immigration streams.

  • The Strategic Recruitment Stream
  • Employer-Driven Stream
  • Self-Employed Farmer Stream

In 2018, Alberta is thinking of merging the Employer-Driven Stream and the Strategic Recruitment Stream along with their sub-categories into one stream. This new stream will operate as an “Alberta Opportunity Stream”.

In addition, Alberta is expecting to launch two new immigration streams this year and one of them will be aligned with Express Entry. On the other hand, the second stream will work under the federal Express Entry pool setup.
